The 2025 Global Digital Economy Conference (GDEC) will open on July 2 in Beijing, according to a press briefing held on Monday.

Under the theme, "Building Digital-Friendly Cities," the conference will feature an opening ceremony, main forum, thematic forums and special events.

It's expected to bring together over 300 participants from more than 50 countries, including representatives from major international organizations to foster multilateral cooperation in technology, economy, and culture among cities worldwide, according to the briefing.

The conference will focus on cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions, showcasing how digital innovations empower urban development and upgrade our quality of life.

A total of 46 thematic forums will be held, focusing on emerging sectors such as AI integration, digital security, data resources, and digital healthcare.

The event will also feature a digital economy innovation competition. By ushering in cutting-edge projects from both China and abroad, it can boost the application of AI technologies in traditional settings.

A digital economy experience center will also be launched for the first time. Using technologies such as AIGC and the metaverse, the center will offer an immersive and interactive space where the public can engage with digital entertainment through hands-on interaction.

Notably, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is serving as a co-host for the first time. The event will also expand its global outreach by hosting overseas sessions in Europe. In collaboration with the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2025 and Germany's FUTUROMUNDO Multikonferenz & Festival, the conference promotes China's digital transformation solutions on a global stage.
